He said the county saw outbreaks at workplaces before coronavirus spread throughout the community and started making its way into nursing homes, with staff and resident testing positive for the virus.
The health department is working with school districts as students return to class. Patterson said Clark County is seeing a variety of back-to-school plans, with some opting to go back to in-person learning, hybrid teaching or remote classes.
He urged people to continue following health guidelines, like social distancing and wearing face masks, to prevent the virus from spreading to schools.
