Breakout room company looks at Dayton Mall for newest location

A breakout room company appears to be eyeing the Dayton Mall for its first Ohio location.

Georgia-based All in Adventures offers roughly eight to 10 escape themes ranging from “Super Hero” to “Zombie Apocalypse” at most locations. An application has been filed to renovate a space for the company at the Dayton Mall, according to Montgomery County records.

The company’s website shows it has 38 locations in about 15 states. Ohio currently does not have any All in Adventure shops, but more will come soon, according to the company’s website.

“We are a relatively young company, but are growing at warp speed…By the end of 2018, we’re predicted to grow to over 75 locations,” the website says.

Breakout rooms have been growing in popularity over the last several years. Dayton currently has two other breakout locations —Breakout at 8120 Washington Village Drive and Great Escape Game at 2332 Grange Hall in Beavercreek.

Entertainment concepts like breakout rooms are taking over traditional spaces in malls as larger department stores move out.

Traditional retail spaces, especially indoor malls, are looking to offer more mixed-use facilities including office space, retail, restaurant and entertainment. The focus has shifted from offering a one-stop shopping facility to specializing in experiences for consumers.
