Bellefontaine resident wins $20K from sweepstakes, donates $10K to cancer society

A Bellefontaine resident donated $10,000 to a local cancer society after winning $20,000 from a sweepstakes, according to a news release.

Ray Pulfer was named the winner of TCC’s Get10Give10 sweepstakes in July, and donated $10,000 to the Logan County Cancer Society.

TCC Gives is an initiative that operates through profits from TCC, a Verizon retailer, and other fundraising projects, the company release said.

TCC customers who entered the sweepstakes have the chance to win $10,000 to keep and TCC Gives will donate an additional $10,000 to a nonprofit of the winners choice, the release said. Pulfer chose the Logan County Cancer Society after they helped his family.

“My wife is going through breast cancer treatment, and the Logan County Cancer Society has been an unbelievable help with the financial burden,” said Pulfer. “You never realize what something like that means to us, so we wanted to give back. This is truly a blessing for our family.”

The Logan County Cancer Society works to provide financial assistance to residents who have cancer or a cancer-related illness, as well as to promote education to detect and treat cancer.

“We are sincerely humbled and honored that Mr. and Mrs. Pulfer selected the Logan County Cancer Society as their nonprofit of choice for the Get10Give10 sweepstakes,” said Tammy Allison, Chief Operating Officer of the Logan County Cancer Society. “This generous gift from the Pulfers and TCC Gives will provide significant resources for the residents of Logan County with a cancer diagnosis.”

Pulfer is the fourth Get10Give10 winner announced by TCC since the sweepstakes launched in November 2019, the release said. He was awarded $10,000 during a check presentation at TCC’s Bellefontaine store, 2244 S. Main St. in July.
