Only a handful of utility customers in Montgomery and Preble counties were without power overnight after heavy rains and storms Sunday and Monday knocked out power to thousands across the Miami Valley.

The majority of outages were in Preble County, according to the AES Ohio online outage map.

Crews were working throughout the day to restore power.

In a Twitter post Sunday, AES warned people to stay weather aware because another storm was expected to move through the Miami Valley between 3 and 9 p.m. Monday with the potential for heavy downpours along with possible hail and strong wind gusts.

AES Ohio spokeswoman Mary Ann Kabel said they are fully mobilized for any storms over this holiday weekend.
