Experience the historic moon landing with a special one-day showing of “Apollo 11: First Steps Edition,” a film created for Omnimax theaters.

The Cincinnati Museum Center will screen the film hourly on Saturday, July 20, the 50th anniversary of the event.

The film, which documents the remarkable achievement of Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins, was created from never-before-seen 70mm footage and more than 11,000 hours of uncatalogued audio records.

Created entirely from archival materials provided by NASA and the National Archives, “Apollo 11: First Steps Edition” is a cinematic event 50 years in the making. The film features incredible shots of the launch, inside Mission Control and recovery and post-mission activities. Audio recordings capture individual tracks from 60 key mission personnel throughout every moment of the mission.

The film will be presented in the museum center's Omnimax Theater with showings every hour from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on July 20. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit cincymuseum.org/omnimax/First-Steps.

The screening coincides with the opening of pre-sale vouchers for the upcoming exhibition Destination Moon: The Apollo 11 Mission. Purchase your Destination Moon pre-sale voucher on July 20 along with your Apollo 11: First Steps Edition Omnimax ticket and save $2.
