Cheese and bacon goodness! Why you have to try Irish Fries at this festival

Fish isn’t the only thing frying at area fish fries this weekend. 

Take what’s coming out of the fryer at Carroll High School’s St. Pat's Fest from  noon to 9 p.m. Saturday, March  9.  

The army of  volunteers behind the annual festival have brought back the Irish Fries that debuted in 2018.

These loaded fries are simple, but tasty, crinkle cut French fries topped with sour cream, bacon and cheddar cheese.

Karla Obergefell, an event organizer, said a few sprinkles of chives are added for color.

The fries will be sold for $3 during the festival alongside a list of food items that includes Irish stew, corned beef, soda bread, Bailey’s Irish Cream Cheesecake, funnel cakes, hot dogs and hamburgers.

Admission to the family-friendly festival is free. There will be a tent, live bands a trivia contest and games.

The Saturday festival was launched four years ago. 

St Pat’s Fest follows the school’s 34th annual fish fry set 6 p.m. to midnight today, March 8.

Admission to the fish fry is $20 at the door. The cost includes food and $10 worth of drink tickets.
