A Warren County vineyard is about to pop the cork on a weekend of fun.

The 2019 Valley Vineyards Wine & Beer Festival starts today from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. and continues tomorrow, Saturday, June 8, from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Valley Vineyards in Morrow is one of 13 American wineries invited to pour wine at the “Celebration of the 80th Anniversary of the 21st Amendment — The Repeal of Prohibition” in Washington, D.C.

The vineyard, 2276 East U.S. 22 and OH 3 in Morrow, is celebrating its 49th anniversary with a weekend filled with cookouts, wine and beer tasting, and live, local music.

Valley Vineyards was founded by Kenneth G. Schuchter in 1970, the year after he planted 20 acres of wine grapes on his property. The first Valley Vineyards Wine Festival in 1971 drew 10,000 attendees. Schuchter died in 2016 and today the second and third generation of his family are involved in the winery.
