Baby’s reaction to hearing for the first time will make your day

Videos of babies hearing for the first time never get old, and a video of a baby in Australia adds to the adorable list.

The West Australian reported that mom Taryn Blair shared a video of her son, 3-month-old Jordan Blair, hearing for the first time.

Blair told The West Australian hearing loss runs in her side of the family, so she was not surprised when Jordan failed hearing tests.

"He had the newborn hearing screening and failed the first assessment. He had another one a couple of days later and failed again," she said. "He wouldn't react to our dog barking or making noises. We have a 2-year-old who flinches or cries when he hears those loud noises, so we knew something wasn't right."

After over 20 appointments, the one captured on video by Blair and her husband, Damien Blair, was a welcome change.

In the video, posted by Blair Wednesday on Facebook, baby Jordan coos and giggles as he hears a rattle for the first time.

"We went in there not knowing what to expect," Blair said. "When we had that reaction, we were so happy."

Another video, posted by Blair Thursday, shows the baby reacting to hearing his mother's voice for the first time, and he cheerfully squeals.

Blair said that a day after her son got his hearing aids, which she said were set at moderate to severe, he's been resting easier.

"Normally, he's hard to put down, I don't know if it had anything to do with him not being able to see or hear us. But now, when I put him down in the bouncer or in bed, he's fine and looking around and making noises," she said.
