Pete Doherty, lead singer of The Libertines, had a run in with a hedgehog and it sent him to the hospital.
Doherty was walking his dogs when one grabbed the spiky rodent.
As Doherty tried to pry the animal from his husky’s mouth, one of the hedgehog’s quills got stuck in Doherty’s finger, NME reported.
The medical treatment was first announced on BBC Radio when Doherty had to skip his appearance on an afternoon show.
“Pete Doherty is now in hospital having the infected hedgehog spine removed from his finger,” host Nihal Arthanayake said, according to NME. “We wish Pete well because whatever has happened is serious enough that he has not been able to make it.”
Doherty also posted a photo of himself and his bandaged hand to Twitter.
Doherty and his band are touring and their debut album was released last week.
