ABC said Wednesday that Ripa won't host the next three editions of "Live!" According to the Associated Press, Ripa had planned to tape Friday's show on Thursday and go on vacation Friday through Monday.

Actress Ana Gasteyer sat in on Wednesday. Deadline reported Erin Andrews and Shay Mitchell are on deck to fill in next.

Strahan discussed his departure during Wednesday’s show:

“I was reading some stuff and it was like I died. It’s not a eulogy, people!” he said. “For everybody who’s come through here in the live audience over the course of the last four years, thank you, guys. I can’t ask for better fans. I’ve worked with an incredible staff here. I’m always available to guest co-host if I get a call because I consider myself a part of this family forever.”

Ripa didn't find out her "Live!" co-host would be leaving her for a full-time position on "Good Morning America" until after their show Tuesday -- the same day ABC sent out an internal memo with the information, TMZ reported.
