Sophie Perry is continuing her late father’s legacy through her own work.
People reported that, nearly two months after actor Luke Perry died, Sophie Perry announced she is opening her first preschool in Thyolo, Malawi, which will be named after her father.
“Our first school is finished and I can’t tell you how proud and excited I am to see it open on Wednesday,” she wrote in a Monday Instagram post. “Thank you to my amazing partner Ruben for everything. Especially for fighting to name the school after my dad.”
The 18-year-old immediately left the African country, where “Entertainment Tonight” reported she works on multiple education initiatives, and rushed home to Los Angeles upon learning that her father had a massive stroke Feb. 27. He died less than a week later, on March 4.
Sophie Perry also thanked donors for contributing to a GoFundMe page that will support her volunteer work helping to develop preschools in rural areas of the town.
