British rapper Cadet killed in car accident

British rapper Cadet was killed in a car accident on his way to a performance Friday night, the BBC reported. He was 28.

The performer, born Blaine Cameron Johnson, died early Saturday, his family said on his Instagram account.

"We the family of Blaine Cameron Johnson otherwise known as Cadet (Underrated Legend) would like to share the sad news that during the early hours of 9th February 2019 he passed away."

In a statement to Radio 1 Newsbeat, Cadet’s management said he was a passenger in a taxi en route to Keele University in Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire, England, where he was due to perform, the BBC reported.

DJ Semtex posted on Twitter: "I can't believe it," adding that "everything was working out for him."
