Bobbi Kristina Brown 'fighting for her life,' family says

Bobbi Kristina Brown, the 21-year-old daughter of the late Whitney Houston, remains on life support and is surrounded by family and friends, Atlanta's WSB-TV reports.

Sources told WSB-TV that family members are preparing for the worst. However, TMZ, quoting a source close to the situation, said Bobbi Kristina has been able to move her eyes and that swelling on her brain had abated. She'd been placed in a medically induced coma to address the swelling.

Brown, 21, was rushed to North Fulton Hospital on Saturday morning after she was found unresponsive, face down in a bathtub.

WSB-TV's Jessica Jaglois spoke to a source inside the hospital who said Bobbi Kristina’s immediate family, including Whitney Houston’s sister-in-law and best friend, Pat Houston, are in an area separate from other loved ones.

They are trying to hold out hope, but the source says it appears Bobbi Kristina was without oxygen from five to eight minutes.

Brown remains on a ventilator and in a coma.

A police report obtained by WSB-TV said 13 officers from the Roswell Police Department responded to the 911 call about 10:30 a.m. Saturday for a reported drowning.

The person who found her – her husband, Nick Gordon – remains at Bobbi Kristina’s side.

The Houston family issued this statement late Monday afternoon:

"Bobbi Kristina is fighting for her life and is surrounded by immediate family. As her father already stated, we are asking you to honor our request for privacy during this difficult time. Thank you for your prayers [and] well-wishes, and we greatly appreciate your continued support."

An earlier statement released on behalf of Bobbi Kristina's father, Bobby Brown, also requested privacy. Click here to read his entire statement.

Police released their report on the incident on Monday.

One of the people listed in the report is Maxwell Lomas, a friend of Brown's husband.

Lomas made the call to 911 on Saturday. He is currently facing drug charges from an arrest last month. His lawyer declined an interview.

Brown's husband, Gordon, also has had legal troubles. In April 2014, Pat Houston took out a restraining order to keep Gordon away.

A source told WSB-TV that there is still tension between the Gordon and Houston family, but both are focused on Bobbi Kristina.
