WOW Air to halt service in Cincinnati after October

Iceland-based budget carrier WOW air will halt operations at the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport after this month.

The low-discount carrier announced it will cancel operations in Cincinnati, Cleveland and St. Louis, the company announced this week. The carrier launched at CVG in May, flying more than 40,000 travelers to places across the world like Iceland and France.

However, the routes did not “achieve the profit targets set,” according to an airport spokeswoman.

Iceland’s low-cost airliner offers cheap flights, as low as $99 for a flight from Cincinnati to Iceland and some cities in Europe. The airline offers three types of flight options: WOW Basic, WOW Plus and WOW Biz. The airline served CVG four days a week, and flew to places like London, Paris, Amsterdam, Berlin, Frankfurt, Dublin and Copenhagen.
