With the advent of Springfield’s first stand-alone Starbucks on the horizon, you may be asking yourself what else is new around town? Here’s a guide to three local businesses that have opened within the past year.

1. Stick + Stone

A unique set of owners has created this eclectic home and bath decor store deep in the heart of Springfield. Located at 36 N. Fountain Ave. (next door to Winans Coffee + Chocolates), this boutique specializes in earthy elemental decor for the home and office. Shoppers can find things like furniture and art, as well as smaller items like hand-made soaps and T-shirts.

2. Knockerball Plus

Need to get out some aggression? Knockerball Plus, located at the Upper Valley Mall, may have your answer. The game center allows players to don special bubble vests and run around the field (safely) crashing into one another. Yes, it’s just as chaotic as it sounds and twice as fun.

3. Home Plate Sports Academy

Playing human foosball not your thing? The Home Plate Sports Academy, also located at the Upper Valley Mall, could give you a nice alternative option. The academy offers plenty of options for people looking to improve their baseball skills or even begin getting into the sport. This spot is just the place to visit for warm-ups with spring training right around the corner.
