Products being recalled include the establishment number “Est. P-17453” inside the USDA mark of inspection, and were shipped to locations nationwide in the U.S. and Canada. They include product codes from 10000 to 19999 and from 70000 to 79999.
The problem was reported by Tip Top Poultry, Inc., when multiple samples of product tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes after being tested in Canada.
Tip Top said it expanded the dates and scope of the recall out of an abundance of caution, and that there have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to eating these products. However, FSIS said that anyone concerned about an injury or illness should contact a healthcare provider.
Listeria monocytogenes, when eaten, can cause listeriosis, a serious infection that mostly affects older adults, people with weakened immune systems and pregnant women and their newborns. People outside these groups can be affected but it is less common.

FSIS said that listeriosis can cause flu-like symptoms as well as confusion, loss of balance, and convulsions, and in pregnant women can cause miscarriages and other life-threatening infections of the newborn. In older adults serious and sometimes fatal infections can occur. People in higher-risk categories who experience flu-like symptoms within two months of eating contaminated food should seek medical care and tell the health provider about eating contaminated food.
FSIS is concerned that some of the recalled product may already be in institutional freezers, and FSIS asks that this food be thrown away or returned to where it was purchased.
