Working careers are lengthening and expectations for many workers are lowering that they will want, or even be able to, retire someday.

This trend has been hitting the American workforce for years. But the trick for many workers is not if they’ll have longer working careers, but how to make them productive and challenging.

This year, the Springfield News-Sun, in partnership with United Senior Services of Clark County, is looking for the best examples of local residents who have created ‘second acts’ to their working lives. We are looking to highlight the skills these people have learned, and the approaches they have used to stay engaged and bring benefit to their communities after they retired from their primary careers.

These are people who, after the age of 55, started a new business; entered a volunteer position that turned into a significant commitment; or learned and used a new skill to benefit themselves and their community.

The News-Sun will profile the best examples in the May edition of SpringfieldB2B Magazine, as well as in the May 1 edition of the News-Sun.
