A General Motors spokeswoman said Monday the grant is linked to an expansion at the Dryden Road plant that was first announced last year.
General Motors in September 2016 announced a new diesel engine to be built at the DMAX plant. Chevrolet was to have a redesigned Duramax 6.6L V-8 turbo-diesel offered on the 2017 Silverado HD, the automaker said at the time.

The news was a shot in the arm for the plant, which survived the Great Recession and other industry and global trends that have closed larger area GM and Delphi plants. The DMAX plant is the last facility in the Dayton area in which GM still has an ownership stake.
GM co-owns the plant with Isuzu.
Also on the metrics report, JobsOhio noted a $300,000 workforce grant and a $200,000 economic development grant to Topre America Corp. in Clark County.

Last month, Topre America, a Japanese-based manufacturer, held a grand opening at its Springfield plant, where it makes parts for Honda.
The auto parts supplier has committed to bringing 85 jobs at its location in the Champion City Business Park but officials have said the business has potential to grow to more than 400 jobs.
