Funeral arrangements for Jeff Schmitt are set

The funeral and visitation for Jeff Schmitt, owner of several successful local auto dealerships, have been set.

According to the obituary published Friday in the Dayton Daily News, a memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday at Fairborn High School Auditorium, 900 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Road. Pastor Mike Pratt will preside.

The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until the time of service.

Schmitt, 64, of Springfield, died Wednesday at the Southview Medical Center surrounded by his family, his obit says.

He was born Feb. 2, 1954 in Dayton, the son of the late Paul F. and Darcus L. (Gray) Schmitt. Schmitt was a graduate of Fairborn High School and Wright State University.

He was president of Jeff Schmitt Auto Group, consisting of eight locations across the Miami Valley.

His obit said his “greatest joy was time spent with his family and close-knit group of friends.”

In addition to his parents his sister, Patricia Aldrich, preceded him in death, according to his obituary. Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Laura; two children, Stefanie Schmitt Page, Jay (Ashley) Schmitt; two grandchildren, Cody and Kate Page; and his pet, Katy T. Dog.
