Dunkin Donuts plans Springfield location

The Cincinnati-based Gilligan Oil Co. spent $210,000 to buy a 1.13-acre plot of land at 1931-1935 S. Limestone St.

The Springfield New-Sun Sun first reported in a story in July that the Springfield Board of Zoning Appeals had planned to approve a conditional use permit for a Dunkin’ Donuts location at that site. The restaurant would be on a vacant lot formerly occupied by Taco Bell, which burned in 2007 and was demolished in 2008.

The Dunkin’ Donuts would also be next door to a competitor in Schuler’s Bakery.

Gilligan Oil Co. LLC is the prospective franchisee. In February, Dunkin’ Brands, the parent company for Dunkin’ Donuts, struck a 13-store deal with Gilligan to bring 13 new restaurants to the Dayton area in 2014.
