Aldi’s reopens in Springfield

More than 200 shoppers lined up around the parking lot for the grand reopening of the Aldi’s grocery store on Bechtel Avenue in Springfield this morning. The store had been closed for five weeks for remodeling and expansion.

“We’re really excited here in Springfield today,” said Sarah Brown, regional vice president for Aldi’s. “We made the store larger, brighter, more modern,” she added as hundreds of people made their way into the store.

“Oh my gosh I love Aldi’s,” said Betsy Baneck of Springfield who is a frequent shopper. She and a best friend waited in line to be one of the first people into the store this morning. Beneck added she saves about 40 percent when she shops at Aldi’s.
