Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson will have two campaign events in the Dayton-Cincinnati area on Tuesday and talk at a Dayton Right to Life event at the University of Dayton Arena.

Carson, who is second in most national polls to GOP frontrunner Donald Trump, will start the day in Sharonville with a rally at the convention center just off of Interstate 75 about . That event will start at 11 a.m. at 11355 Chester Road.

Carson will have a rally at Cedarville Univestity in Greene County at 2 p.m. at the univesity's Dixon Ministry Center, 251 N. Main St. in Cedarville.

Carson will end the day as the keynote speaker at Dayton Right to Life's Viva La Vita event at the University of dayton Arena. That event starts at 7 p.m. and tickets are required. Tickets are available through Ticketmaster or the University of Dayton ticket office.

Mark Caleb Smith, associate professor of political science at Cedarville, is not surprised Carson is near the top in the polls.

"Dr. Carson has the benefit of being an outsider, but he is also overtly religious and has a compelling story," Smith said. "He also provides some diversity for the GOP. All that helps."

Smith said students at Cedarville are excited about Carson's visit Tuesday.

"Students are thrilled. They are aware and expectant. I think he will find a friendly audience here at Cedarville University."
