Ohioans Against Marijuana Monopolies is running a 30-second ad online that urges a no vote on Issue 3, which would seeks to legalize marijuana for medical and personal use.

“We have built a broad, impressive and diverse coalition to defeat Issue 3, and our campaign’s emphasis remains on grassroots communication with voters. But with early voting now underway, we feel the time is right to deliver our message digitally to targeted voters across Ohio,” said Curt Steiner, OAMM Campaign Director.

Without giving a specific dollar amount, Ohioans Against Marijuana Monopolies said more than $100,000 was spent on the online ad that will run through Nov. 3.

The 30-second spot hammers home that Issue 3 would change Ohio's constitution and give a handful of investors control over the commercial production of legal pot. It uses images of businessmen pawing through piles of bundled $20 bills as well as pictures of marijuana infused lollipops, candy bars and gummy bears.

Backers of Issue 3 have been on the TV airwaves for weeks and have shipped out no less than five full-color mailers to voters statewide.

Issue 3 is a proposed constitutional amendment that would legalize marijuana for medical and recreational use by adults age 21 and older, allow limited home growing, and name 10 sites for the commercial cultivation and sale of legal pot. Those sites are controlled by the investors backing Issue 3.
