Slide off crashes piling up on slick roadways

Slick roadways are causing several slide-off crashes throughout the area this morning.

Around 4:00 a.m, reports of single vehicle crashes or slide-offs started to take over the dispatch priorities from the Middletown area to Ansonia in Darke County and to the east side of Springfield on Interstate 70.

Officers were requesting salt crews to treat specific areas as they traveled secondary and primary roads and noticed dangerous conditions developing.

As of 9 a.m., the westbound lane of Mad River Road was blocked between Greenspire Court and Rahn Road after vehicles were not able to make it up a hill.

Earlier Monday morning, a vehicle crashed into the median on westbound Interstate 70 near Ohio 40 in Springfield. A vehicle also crashed into trees on Interstate 75 in Tipp City.

Several slide-offs were also reported on secondary roads. Roadway crews from the state and counties have been out for hours and continue to treat slick areas.
