Kareem Elgazzar covers breaking news, spot news, and sports. He originally thought he wanted to be a physician, like his father. But after realizing it wasn't his calling, he got involved with a student newspaper and, in his words, "the rest was history."

At the University of Cincinnati, he learned multiple disciplines to help diversify his skill set - first as a news reporter, then as a photojournalist. He also did some digital work.

Today, he primarily focuses on visual journalism but his eporting background helps him when doing field work.

Elgazzar's  family is originally Egyptian, but he was raised in Cincinnati. His parents moved to the states in the 1970s and they've been here ever since.  He is a sports junkie, and an avid professional soccer follower. He enjoys traveling, playing basketball and soccer, and the outdoors. He also works on photography projects when he can.
