About Wright State

The Raiders have won five of their past six games and stand a half-game behind the three teams tied for first place in the Horizon League. Mays has driven that success, averaging 21.5 points in those six games. He leads the league in scoring in conference games, at 18.0, and for the season he ranks eighth in scoring (13.9), fourth in 3-point shooting (42.9), fifth in free throw percentage (79.7), fifth in steals (1.5), eighth in minutes (32.8) and 10th in assists (2.9). Battle bettered his previous career high by 10 points in scoring 23 in a 73-55 win against Valparaiso on Sunday, aided by the WSU defense, which ranks fourth in the league and 59th nationally in scoring defense (61.8 per game).

About Milwaukee

The Panthers have won 13 of their past 14 Horizon League games, including nine straight to end last season and earn the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament. Williams leads the league in assists (6.3) and ranks fourth in steals (1.6) and was a preseason all-league first teamer. Tony Meier, a 6-8 senior forward who was a preseason all-league second- teamer, has been hindered by injuries, but still averages 10.1 points and 4.7 rebounds per game. The Panthers rank first nationally in 3-point percentage defense, allowing 24.2 percent per game. However, they are playing without guard Ja’Rob McCallum (10 ppg), who has missed the last 11 games with a wrist injury.

FYI

The Raiders have lost their last 13 road games against Milwaukee, but they defeated the Panthers 68-44 at the Nutter Center last season.

Quote, unquote

“Milwaukee is really big, and they can play four guys 6-6 or taller around Kaylon (6-3), and that provides a matchup problem for us.” — WSU coach Billy Donlon.
