FORT WAYNE, Ind. — The Wright State women’s basketball team dropped its season opener to Indiana-Purdue-Fort Wayne 83-67 on Saturday, Nov. 14.
Despite being held scoreless for the first 6:26, WSU led 12-9 halfway through the opening half.
IPFW then scored 13 of the next 15 points to lead 22-14 and never trailed again. Down 45-28 early in the second half, WSU fought back to within 51-41 but could not trim the deficit under 10.
IPFW put five scorers in double figures and rang up its highest point total in two years. Courtney Reed, a senior guard from Fort Loramie, had five rebounds and a game-high six assists.
LaShawna Thomas led WSU with 22 points, Erica Richardson had 17 and Molly Fox 12. Thomas also had eight rebounds and five assists.
