Urbana High School senior Zach Stillings had 15 points and 11 rebounds as the Hillclimbers’ boys basketball team defeated Kenton Ridge 57-45 on Tuesday night for its first 13-game win streak since 1965.
Karl Singer had a game-high 19 points and Tristan Singer added 10 points for Urbana (13-1). The Hillclimbers’ only loss this season was to Tecumseh, 50-41, on Dec. 13.
Christian Thompson scored 13 points for the Cougars (6-12).
Graham 39, Shawnee 34: The Falcons’ defense held Braves leading scorer Jaelin Williams to just nine points as both teams moved to 11-5.
Austin Morgan’s 13 points paced Graham.
Shawnee’s Derek Tincher scored over half his team’s points, netting 19.
Springfield 64, Belmont 50: The Wildcats outscored their guests in every quarter to improve to 6-11.
Springfield was led by Henry Alexander’s 17 points, while Daeshawn Jackson and Ryan Minney each added 11 points. Belmont fell to 4-14.
Tippecanoe 75, Northwestern 73 2 OTs: The Warriors (4-12, 3-4 CBC) gave the Red Devils (7-11, 3-5) all they wanted, but couldn’t come out on top in the end.
Cody Lough led five Northwestern players in double figures with 22 points. Teammate Tevin Springs added 15 points, Jordan Hall 13, Tyler Marton 12 and Jesse Aukeman 10.
Tecumseh 61, Greenon 40: The Arrows built a 26-16 halftime lead and held on to get their 10th win in their last 11 games.
Chase Culbertson scored 16 points and Codi Frank added 14 points for Tecumseh (13-4).
Cody Carpenter had 15 points for the Knights (8-9).
Southeastern 49, Fairbanks 37: The host Trojans went on a 17-9 run in the fourth quarter to win their second straight.
Duncan Mercer led Southeastern (10-8) with 12 points.
Bethel 51, Greeneview 45: The Bees stung the host Rams by going 21-for-24 from the charity stripe.
Adam Elzey and Tyler Bruntz both 12 points for Greeneview (12-5), who had a three-game win streak stopped. Leading scorer Evan Bradds could only muster eight points.
Fairlawn 61, Mechanicsburg 58: The host Indians fell behind 22-4 in the first quarter and saw their three-game winning streak halted.
Nick Callicoat scored 16 points and Josh Rousculp added 12 points for Mechanicsburg (11-6).
Emmanuel Christian 51, Xenia Christian 50: Collin Hennigan’s runner in the lane with five seconds left was the game-winner for the host Lions.
Darius Stroder had a game-high 18 points and Jared Klawer added 13 points for Emmanuel (4-13, 2-7 Metro Buckeye Conference).
Dayton Christian 63, Yellow Springs 46: Roland Newsome and Greg Felder Jr. had 12 points each for the Bulldogs (5-11, 4-5 MBC).
Shekinah Christian 59, Triad 43: Hank LeVan scored 22 points for the host Cardinals (3-13).
Area girls
Northeastern 56, Ridgemont 31: Katelynn McDaniel scored a season-high 19 points as the visiting Jets snapped a two-game losing streak. Haley McCohn scored 11 points and Haley Sparks had 10 for Northeastern (4-15).
Dayton Christian 65, Yellow Springs 31: Angela Allen scored 11 points for the Bulldogs (8-10, 5-6 MBC).
