Triad girls clinch share of OHC title

MECHANICSBURG — The undefeated Triad High School girls basketball team clinched at least a share of its second straight Ohio Heritage Conference title, beating Mechanicsburg 72-68 on Saturday night.

Kelsey Funderburgh had 26 points, Faith Orecchio had 21 and Rebecca Levings added 12 as the Cardinals improved to 18-0 and 12-0 in the OHC.

They can clinch the outright title with a victory over second-place Greeneview (14-4, 10-2) on Thursday. Triad shared the title with West Liberty-Salem last season.

Mechanicsburg led 34-27 at the half, but a 19-point third quarter gave Triad a 46-45 lead after three quarters. The Cardinals extended the lead to 11 in the fourth quarter. Mechanicsburg pulled to within two points, but couldn’t get any closer.

Tori Purk had 31 points and Kristen Dunlap added 19 for the Indians (13-4, 10-2).

Tippecanoe 72, Kenton Ridge 67: The Red Devils outscored Kenton Ridge 25-14 in the fourth quarter en route to a 72-67 victory in a Central Buckeye Conference Kenton Trail Division game.

Mariah Harris had 24 points and 12 rebounds, Lindsey Fenwick had 11 points and 10 rebounds and Paige McCrary added 10 points for the Cougars 
(15-3, 6-3), who were eliminated from CBC Kenton Trail Division title contention with the loss.

Kenton Ridge, who entered the game on a 7-game winning streak, led 53-47 after three quarters. Halee Printz had 20 points and Ellise Sharpe added 17 for the Red Devils.

At 8-1, Tippecanoe (11-7) and Tecumseh (16-2) now tied for first place in the CBC Kenton Trail Division with one game to play. Tecumseh travels to Kenton Ridge on Feb. 11, while Tippecanoe hosts Stebbins.

Urbana 70, Graham 58: Trischa Lacy had 24 points, going 
15-for-16 from the free throw line, and 13 rebounds as Urbana (11-6, 7-2) moved into a first-place tie in the CBC Mad River Divsion with both Graham and Greenon.

All three teams can earn a share of the league title with victories next Saturday. Urbana hosts Indian Lake, Greenon hosts Ben Logan and Graham travels to Northwestern.

Kaley Moss had 17 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists for the Hillclimbers, while Braxton Rogan added 10 points.

Lindsay Black had 24 points and Taylor Dyke added 20 for Graham (9-9, 7-2 CBC).

Tecumseh 67, Shawnee 35: Chelsey Davis surpassed the 1,000-point plateau, scoring 18 points as the Arrows won their eighth straight game. Davis now has 1,001 career points.

Bianca Quisenberry had a game-high 21 points and 10 rebounds and Brittany Frappier added 11 points as Tecumseh 
(16-2, 8-1) kept pace with Tippecanoe in the CBC Kenton Trail.

Shawnee is 7-11 and 3-6 in the CBC Kenton Trail.

Greenon 45, Northwestern 22: Jenna Robertson had a game-high 11 points for the Knights, who led 16-2 after the first quarter.

With a victory over Ben Logan next week, Greenon (13-5, 7-2) will earn a share of its first league title since 1984.

Northwestern is 1-16 and 0-9.

Southeastern 52, Cedarville 44: Jenna Erwin had 24 points and Mona Ratliff added 10 for the Trojans (9-10, 7-6 OHC).

Emily Aviles had 16 points and Lauren Wickline added 14 for Cedarville (8-11, 3-10 OHC).

Beavercreek 54, Springfield 28: Ashley Tunstall had a game-high 19 points for the Wildcats (5-14, 0-9 Greater Western Ohio Conference Central Division).

Miami Valley 51, Yellow Springs 14: The Rams led 32-5 at the half as the Bulldogs fell to 8-9 and 5-5 in the MBC.
