NEW CARLISLE — The Tecumseh High School girls basketball team earned one of its biggest wins in recent program history at the Classic in the Country Invitational on Monday.

The Arrows beat Lorain 44-41 at the annual girls basketball showcase in northern Ohio. Bianca Quisenberry had a game-high 27 points, including a 3-point play with 50 seconds remaining to seal the victory.

“It’s a whole different environment,” said Arrows coach Danielle Thomas. “It’s an honor to be invited, so you don’t want to go there and play bad. It’s hard to play well because of the environment and all of the coaches around, but the girls pulled it off.”

The Arrows struggled from the field throughout the game, but managed to keep it close with defense. With Arrows post Chelsey Davis on the bench with foul trouble, the 5-foot-8 Quisenberry guarded Lorain’s 6-3 post Alex Harris and helped shut her down.

“That’s kind of what changed the game for us,” Thomas said.

The Arrows (10-2, 5-1 Central Buckeye Conference Mad River Division) won for the ninth time in their last 10 games, including big victories over Kenton Ridge, Tippecanoe and Lorain.

“We really wanted to try to make some noise these last four games,” Thomas said.

They’re tied atop the Central Buckeye Conference Kenton Trail Division with Tippecanoe. KR is one-game back at 4-2.

Winning streak: Since starting the season 2-7, Emmanuel Christian has won three in a row.

The Lions have held opponents to under 33 points in victories over Sidney Christian, Spring Valley and Troy Christian.

They’re led by Megan Ball (12.6 points, 6.9 rebounds, 4.8 steals, 4.6 assists per game), Hannah Decker (10.6 points, 3.6 steals pg) and Breanna Coffman (10.6 rebounds pg).

Big week: Greeneview faces two games this week against state-ranked opponents. The Rams (10-2, 6-1 Ohio Heritage Conference) travel to D-II No. 14 Clinton-Massie (11-1) on Thursday, then host D-IV No. 5 Triad on Saturday.

With a victory over the unbeaten Cards (12-0, 8-0 OHC), the Rams would move into a tie for first-place in the conference.
