SPRINGFIELD — The Springfield High School football team will play Upper Arlington in the Kirk Herbstreit National Kickoff Classic in a game to be televised on ESPNU on Sunday, Sept. 4.
The game will be held at Ohio Stadium, Springfield athletic director Mark Stoll confirmed on Monday. The Wildcats will be the second game of the day, followed by St. Xavier vs. Pickerington Central at Noon.
Springfield beat Upper Arlington 26-10 in Week 2 at home last fall.
The Wildcats will face powerhouse Cincinnati St. Xavier in the annual Skyline Chili Crosstown Showdown on Saturday, Aug. 27, at the University of Cincinnati’s Nippert Stadium. The game will be regionally televised by Fox Sports Ohio.
The Wildcats return 11 starters from last year’s team, which finished 9-3. They lost to Hilliard Davidson in the D-I, Region 3 semifinals.
Springfield coach Rick Robertson recently left the program to take the job at Oakwood.
