FAIRBORN — Kenton Ridge High School senior John Littell and Shawnee junior Kendra Crew were named the top swimmers at the Central Buckeye Conference swimming meet Saturday night at Wright State, and their coaches, Kenton Ridge’s Heather Shaffer and Shawnee’s Jason Hill, were named CBC coaches of the year.
Crew won the 200-yard individual medley in 2 minutes, 11.64 seconds. That was almost 20 seconds faster than the second-place finisher. She also won the 100 breaststroke in 1:07.74.
In the 400 freestyle relay, Crew teamed with Kacie Miller, Abigail Balridge and Samantha Wilt to record a winning time of 4:04.13. The same group placed second in the 200 freestyle relay (1:50.83).
Miller also won the 200 freestyle (2:11.52).
The Shawnee girls placed second with 196 points. Tippecanoe won the meet with 313. Tecumseh placed third with 142.
Tecumseh’s Courtney Speakman was a double winner, finishing first in the 500 free (a meet record time of 5:34.13) and the 100 backstroke (1:07.40).
Littell had four top-three finishes. He placed second in the 100 breaststroke (1:05.54) and third in the 100 freestyle (53.29). He also swam with Gabe Rastatter, Robbie Ashbaugh and Jacob Snyder on the winning 200 freestyle relay (1:40.38) and the third-place 200 medley relay team (1:52.60).
Rastatter won the 100 freestyle in a Kenton Ridge record time of 52.85, and he placed second in the 200 freestyle (2:00.83).
The Kenton Ridge boys finished third with 221 points. Tippecanoe won (305.5), and Shawnee took second (233).
Other area winners were:
• Shawnee’s Joey Mullen in the 100 butterfly (57.52).
• Urbana’s Rachel Routzong in the 100 free (1:01.05).
• Jacob Dockter in the 100 backstroke (59.91).
