SIDNEY — Five Northeastern High School wrestlers and six Mechanicsburg wrestlers advanced to the semifinals of the Division III sectional wrestling tournament Friday at Sidney Lehman Catholic High School.

The semifinals and finals of the tournament take place today.

The Jets advanced the following wrestlers to the championship bracket: Devan Kaffenbarger (125), Baylor Deselem (135), Marcus Reeder (140), Cole Howard (145) and Levi Cauley (160).

The Indians had Austin Reese (103), Adam Tilley (112), Dalton Hilibran (119), Austin Black (135), Max Erwin (152) and Cody Rodgers (189) move on to the semis. Rodgers had two pins on the day including Nick Francis, of Versailles, in the quarterfinals.

Versailles is in first place after the first day with Brookville second, Northeastern third and Mechanicsburg in fourth.

Division II

Graham is well on its way to another sectional title, leading after the first day of the D-II sectional at Tippecanoe. Graham had 15 total pins and had all 14 wrestlers advance to the semifinals.

Matt Stephens (152), Isaac Jordan (160) and Mark Meyers (215) had two pins each.

The Falcons have 125 points, five points better than second-place Kenton Ridge (70). Oakwood is in third place with 59 points.

The Cougars sent six wrestlers to the semifinals: Preston Bowshier (112), Elijah Cochran (119), Joe Quisenberry (140), Seth Scaglia (145), Anthony Cole-Young (171) and Bobby Mounts (215).

Shawnee had five wrestlers make it to the semifinals: Dominic Stewart (112), Caleb Bostick (125), Ben Noll (160), Nathan Silvus (215) and Lucas Sparks (285).

Tecumseh also had five wrestlers advance to the semifinals: Nathan Fisher (125), Travis Jones (135), Daniel Crowley (140), Chuck Buchanan (152) and Zeke Eier (189).

Other area semifinalists are: Greenon’s Spencer Gibson (215), Northwestern’s Mason Sherrock (152) and Urbana’s Sam Harris (189).
