MECHANICSBURG — Duncan Mercer’s short jump shot with 1.5 seconds left gave the Southeastern High School boys basketball team a 45-43 victory over Mechanicsburg on Friday.
Southeastern took a 42-41 lead on a 3-pointer by Luke Pavlatos with 90 seconds remaining. Josh Black then hit 1-of-2 free throws with 50 seconds left to give the Trojans a 43-41 lead.
Mechanicsburg’s Josh Rousculp tied the game on a layup with 20 seconds to play.
Both teams are now 3-2 in the Ohio Heritage Conference.
Mercer led the Trojans (3-3 overall) with 14 points. Cody Callicoat had 14 for the Indians (4-4).
Northeastern 58, Triad 54: The Jets built a big early lead and hung on to win.
Daniel Lenk scored 9 of his team-high 17 points in the second quarter for the Jets, who led 13-4 after the first quarter and 29-16 at halftime. Andrew Williams had 11 points, scoring six in the third quarter.
Northeastern improved to 3-4 and 3-2 in the OHC.
Triad, led by Hank LeVan’s 22 points, lost its third straight game, falling to 1-6 and 1-4 in the OHC.
