YELLOW SPRINGS — Tori Purk, a senior transfer from Graham, scored 18 points, leading the Mechanicsburg High School girls basketball team to a season-opening 69-18 victory over Yellow Springs on Monday.

Kristen Dunlap added 14 points, and Hayley Cochran had nine points and 11 rebounds.

Mechanicsburg led 17-3 after one quarter. Yellow Springs (0-1) scored three in the first quarter, four in the second, five in the third and six in the fourth.

Tri-County North 29, Northeastern 25: The Jets fell behind 14-4 in the first quarter and cut the deficit to four points by halftime, but each team scored 11 points in the second half.

Haley McCohn had 7 points and Kaitlynn McDaniel grabbed 11 rebounds for Northeastern.
