Late-game heroics by Mechanicsburg High School senior Cody Callicoat helped the host Indians get past West Liberty-Salem 55-54 in double overtime in the Ohio Heritage Conference opener for both teams Friday.
Callicoat, who scored a game-high 21 points, hit a 3-pointer with 3.5 seconds left in overtime to force a second overtime. Callicoat hit four free throws in the final 30 seconds of the second overtime to ice the win for Mechanicsburg (2-2).
Grant Burden and Landon Hormann both scored 15 points for the Tigers (0-2).
Urbana 68, Northwestern 40: The Hillclimbers had four double-figure scorers to win this Central Buckeye Conference Mad River Division opener.
Zach Stillings had 19 points and 8 rebounds. Karl Singer added 14 points and 9 rebounds. Joe Wright chipped in 10 points and 5 assists. Tristan Singer also had 10 points for Urbana (2-0).
Cody Lough tossed in 14 points, and Jordan Hall added 12 points for the host Warriors (1-2).
Catholic Central 57, Triad 46: The Irish went on a 16-11 run in the fourth quarter to pull away for a OHC road win.
Brian Kelly had 15 points and Calum Latham chipped in 13 for Central (2-0). Hank LeVan scored a game-high 19 points for Triad (0-3).
Graham 46, Benjamin Logan 41: The Falcons needed an 18-6 fourth quarter run to pick up a road CBC Mad River win. Austin Hicks scored 12 points, while Devon Allen and Grant Goddard both had 11 points for Graham (2-0).
Bellefontaine 41, Kenton Ridge 32: Connor McClure hit three treys and scored a game-high 18 points to give the host Chieftains (2-1) a win in the CBC Kenton Trail opener. Nick Lias led the Cougars (0-2) with 10 points.
Northeastern 77, Cedarville 69: The Jets shot 55 percent from the field (29 of 52) to pick up their first win of the season.
Daniel Lenk scored 19 points, Andrew Williams had 18 points and Sterling Shoemaker chipped in 17 points for Northeastern (1-2). Stefan Biddinger led the Indians (1-3) with 16 points.
Miami Valley 46, Emmanuel Christian 43: The host Rams (2-0) went on a 18-10 run in the fourth quarter to win the Metro Buckeye Conference opener.
Darius Stroder scored 11 points and Ryan Mahoney added 10 points for the Lions (0-2), who led 33-28 after the third quarter.
Troy Christian 47, Yellow Springs 41: Greg Felder Jr. and Roland Newsome both scored 12 points as the Bulldogs (1-1) fell in their MBC opener.
