SPRINGFIELD — Dylan Anderson, Clayton Portz and Kyle Glaser can call themselves Springfield Junior Open champions.

The three won their age groups in the tournament at Snyder Park on Wednesday, July 1.

Anderson, who will be a junior at Greenon High School, shot a 73 to win the 16- to 17-year-old age group by four shots over Northeastern’s Cameron Thomas.

“I started off bad,” Anderson said. “I bogeyed the first two holes and from there on played 1-under. It’s my home course. I play there so much, there’s no reason for me not to play strong.”

Portz, a sophomore at Kenton Ridge, shot a 70 to win the 13-15 age group. He beat Kyle Jeffers of Tecumseh by one stroke.

“I was keeping his card,” Portz said. “I knew he was right there with me. We both had par on the last hole. We tied the front nine. It was close.”

Glaser, a sixth-grader at Northwestern Middle School, shot a 36 on nine holes to win the 10-12 age group by eight shots.

“I did pretty well,” Glaser said. “I sunk the putts when I needed to, and I was able to make three birdies to bounce back after a double bogey on 4 and a bogey on 1.”
