The Greenon High School girls basketball team used a hot start to defeat host Shawnee 45-37 in non-conference action on Thursday.
The Knights outscored the Braves 16-4 in the first quarter and led 23-12 at the half to start the season with a rare 5-0 record.
Whitney Robinson scored 14 points, and Heather Slaughter had 10 points for Greenon. Courtney Sanders scored 13 points, and Carly Gregory pulled down 12 rebounds for Shawnee (1-3).
West Liberty-Salem 55, Cedarville 29: The host Tigers went on a 25-2 run in the second quarter to post their first Ohio Heritage Conference win of the year.
Becka Peterson had a season-high 27 points and 6 steals, and Alexis Smith pulled down 13 rebounds for West Liberty (4-3, 1-3 OHC). Jamie Hutson led the Indians (2-4, 1-3 OHC) with 10 points.
Troy Christian 43, Emmanuel Christian 34: Megan Ball scored 14 points as the host Lions (2-5) fell to 1-3 in the Metro Buckeye Conference.
Miami Valley 37, Yellow Springs 25: The Rams went on a 13-2 run in the fourth quarter to pick up a MBC road win. Kennedy Harshaw scored 11 points for the Bulldogs (1-3, 1-2 MBC).
