Emmanuel Christian High School senior Jared Klawer scored a game-high 17 points as the host Lions defeated Cedarville 45-41 on the opening night of boys basketball season Friday.
With the game tied at 30 at the end of the third quarter, Emmanuel went on a 18-11 run in the fourth quarter to give first year head coach Danny Wingate his first victory.
Kevin Stewart and Collin Hennigan both scored 10 points for the Lions. Hudson Grant led the Indians with 14 points.
Troy 63, Tecumseh 46: The Arrows took a 18-13 first-quarter lead before the host Trojans pulled away.
Chase Culbertson scored 18 points, Trent Mead had 11 points and Gabe Winas-Berner added 10 points for Tecumseh. Zach Martinez scored a game-high 27 points for Troy.
Botkins 67, Mechanicsburg 57: Cody Callicoat had 18 points and Brandon Purk added 17 points as the Indians fell in the first round of the Benjamin Logan Invitational. Mechanicsburg will face Benjamin Logan in the consolation game at 6 p.m. today.
Yellow Springs 66, London 58: Cole Edwards had a career-high 22 points and 14 rebounds, Greg Felder Jr. scored 14 points and Robbie Jones added 13 points for the host Bulldogs.
Fairbanks 69, Triad 40: The Cardinals trailed 41-19 at half in losing to the host Panthers. Hank LeVan led Triad with 12 points.

Cedarville 47, Emmanuel Christian 33: The Indians took advantage of 20 Lions turnovers to get their first win of the year.
Emily Sheridan scored a game-high 21 points for Cedarville (1-1). Hannah Decker had 13 points and Megan Ball added 11 points for host Emmanuel (0-3).
