For the first time since that bizarre season-opening loss to Denver, the Cincinnati Bengals let one get away in the final minute.

They had eight penalties, three fumbles, a missed field goal and a defensive collapse that set up a 20-17 loss in Oakland on Sunday, Nov. 22, the first time this season the Bengals (7-3) failed to beat a lowly team.

The only encouraging aspect was that the rest of the AFC North blew games in the closing minutes as well, leaving first-place Cincinnati a game ahead of Pittsburgh and two in front of Baltimore. The Bengals have the tiebreakers against both teams, so it’s the equivalent of a two-game lead.

Cincinnati is at home against Cleveland (1-9) on Sunday.
