Week 8: Northmont hands Centerville its first loss; ‘Hail Mary’ lifts Wayne; Belmont, Trotwood, Valley View still perfect

Week 8 produced a wild night of high school football. Expect anything less on Friday the 13th?

A goal-line stand in the final three minutes allowed Northmont to hand visiting Centerville its first loss of the season. Sidney also lost its first game of the season, dropping a 48-21 decision to Troy.

In two games with huge Division I, Region 3 playoff implications, Wayne stunned Fairmont on a final-second Hail Mary reception by Ohio State recruit L'Christian 'Blue' Smith and Springfield set a record for points scored in a game in a 64-28 rout over Beavercreek.

Belmont, Trotwood-Madison, Valley View and Marion Local all moved to 8-0.

Trotwood-Madison 67, Stebbins 0: Markell Stephens-Peppers tossed four touchdowns and ran in a fifth, Raveion Hargrove scampered for 228 yards on ten carries with three touchdowns and Dallas Daniels hauled in six passes for 138 yards with two scores to lead unbeaten Trotwood.

Miamisburg 24, Lebanon 13: Tony Clark rumbled for 113 yards with a touchdown, Tyler Johnson hauled in four catches for 86 yards and the Miamisburg defense forced three turnovers in the win. Brendan Lamb ran in a score and Derrick Allen caught a TD pass from Kyle Short in a losing effort for Lebanon.

Springboro 41, Fairborn 0: Cameron Rountree threw three touchdowns, all to Kris Hughes, to lead 'Boro. Rountree tallied 194 yards passing on 14 completions and Hughes hauled in seven catches for 162 yards.

Tippecanoe 47, Greenville 0: Josh Burritt rushed for 119 yards on ten carries with three touchdowns and Cole and Clay Barhorst added a rushing TD apiece for Tippecanoe in the rout.

Xenia 42, West Carrollton 12: Sincere Wells scampered for 201 yards on 14 carries with two touchdowns and Christian Severt threw a pair of scores to lead Xenia.

Lakota West 35, Middletown 7: David Afari ran in West's first three scores, finishing with 277 yards on the ground. MyJaden Horton connected on an eight-yard TD pass with Alex Bunton and Jalen Swanson added a rushing score.

Valley View 50, Oakwood 7: Collin Genslinger and Collin Wood each ran in a pair of scores as unbeaten Valley View got ahead big early. Brian Erbe scored the lone TD for Oakwood.

Brookville 28, Eaton 20: Jordan Lewis gave Eaton an early lead with two TD runs, but Brookville rattled off 28 unanswered points to take control. Jacob Vore had two rushing touchdowns and Bailey Wallen and Justin Eyler ran in the other scores.

Bellbrook 49, Northridge 14: Ethan Savey and Justin Sloan both ran in a pair of touchdowns and Brendan Labensky connected on a 47-yard strike to Jacob Schmidt in the win for Bellbrook. Mason Hardin found Twon Hines for both of Northridge's scores.

Fenwick 36, Purcell Marian 6: Keegan Corbett ran for 117 yards with three touchdowns and Joe Durham and Bradley Davenport added a rushing TD apiece for Fenwick.

Goshen 33, Clinton-Massie 31: Gerardo Espinosa-Ley nailed a 25-yard field goal as time expired to hand Clinton-Massie its first league loss in over ten years.

Edgewood 55, Talawanda 17: Elijah Williams tallied three touchdown runs, Dalton Lakes added two scores and D.J. Whiles ran back a 90-yard kickoff return for a TD for Edgewood.

Indian Lake 20, Urbana 13: Lake scored a late touchdown to break a 13-13 tie. Preston Shields ran in both of Urbana's scores.

Ben Logan 46, Graham 26: Derek Coy totaled 243 yards passing with three touchdowns and Trent Berry rumbled for 220 yards on the ground with three scores for Ben Logan. Austin Brayton had 152 yards rushing with a TD for Graham.

Greeneview 62, Cedarville 12: Griffin Mangan rushed eight times for 132 yards with three touchdowns and Clay Payton added two rushing scores for Greeneview.

Mechanicsburg 42, Triad 0: Dustin Knapp racked up 172 yards rushing with a pair of touchdowns and Keith Bebout had 86 yards receiving with two scores to lead 'Burg.

Belmont 63, Shroder 0: Elijah Malcolm ran for 161 yards on 10 carries with a TD and Tavon Hardwick added two TD runs and a 21-yard strike to Dawson Martin to pace unbeaten Belmont.

Thurgood Marshall 21, Woodward 20 OT: Thurgood stuffed a potential game-winning two-point conversion in overtime to hold on for the win.

Troy Christian 47, Hillcrest Academy 8: Caleb Swiss racked up three touchdowns and James Anderson scored his first career TD for Troy Christian.

Ansonia 35, Twin Valley South 28: Rygh Fortkamp caught a 15-yard TD from Hunter Buckingham and Max Wardrip had a rushing score as Ansonia took control in the second half. Ryan Bassler tallied two rushing touchdowns for TVS.

National Trail 41, Mississinawa Valley 12: Noah Brinkley and Zach Woodall hauled in two touchdowns apiee and Dalton Blazer led Trail's defense with three sacks and three tackles for loss.

Covington 63, Bradford 0: The win marked No. 499 overall for the Covington program.

Fort Loramie 49, Tri-Village 14: Mike Hoying ran for 92 yards with four touchdowns to pace Loramie.

Marion Local 21, Fort Recovery 10: Nick Tangeman’s second TD catch sealed the rally win for unbeaten Marion Local.
