6 things from NFL Week 15: Ezekiel Elliott steals headlines again

NFL Week 15 saw the official end to playoff hopes in Cincinnati while Ezekiel Elliott continued his march toward rookie of the year — if not more.

Here are six things you need to know from around the league:

1. The Bengals loss to the Steelers was a perfect way to end the season.

They showed they can compete with good teams but have too many holes and too many mental lapses to beat them.

This is just a mediocre roster this year.

2. Andy Dalton was underwhelming. Again.

When the Bengals needed their quarterback to lift them, he didn’t. That probably tells us what we need to know about Dalton.

He’s an above average NFL quarterback in an era when there are far more bad ones then good.

A team can win a championship with him, but he probably won’t be the most important player if that happens.

That said, finding someone better could be very daunting. That’s a discussion best left to another day.

3. The Texans won to stay in first place in the AFC South, but they benched their quarterback.

So, yeah, it’s a position where things can get complicated in a hurry.

Tom Savage completed 23 of 36 passes for 260 yards after replacing $72 million-man Brock Osweiler in Houston’s 21-20 win over the Jaguars.

The Texans host the Bengals next week.

4. Robert Griffin III was sacked five times as the Browns lost to the Bills.

The march to 0-16 continued for Cleveland, which gave up 280 yards rushing. There’s really nothing Hue Jackson’s team can hang its hat on.

5. Former Bengal Reggie Nelson’s interception clinched a Raiders win over the Chargers and a playoff berth for Oakland.

He’s had quite a pro career after a disappointing start.

6. Ezekiel Elliott continues his quest toward league domination.

The former Ohio State star not only had another monster game, he also came up with the celebration of the week in the league.

The move drew a penalty, but his father approved.
