Texas Rangers designate UD grad Mike Hauschild for assignment

The Texas Rangers designated relief pitcher Mike Hauschild for assignment on Thursday. The University of Dayton and Beavercreek High School graduate made his big-league debut on April 8 and had an 11.25 ERA in eight innings and four appearances.

On Wednesday in a 9-1 loss to the Athletics in Oakland, Hauschild allowed five earned runs on seven hits in 3 1/3 innings. He gave up three home runs.

Hauschild, who the Rangers took from the Astros in the Rule 5 draft, will now go through the waiver process. If no one claims him, the Rangers must offer him back to Astros for $50,000.
