State wrestling duals: Graham, Mechanicsburg grab top seeds

Graham and Mechanicsburg grabbed the top seeds for the Ohio High School Athletic Association state team tournament Feb. 12 at St. John Arena.

The eight regional champions are seeded first through eighth by a panel of seven members selected by the OHSAA. The brackets were released Friday.

Graham, the four-time defending champion, was a unanimous selection as the top seed in Division II.

The Falcons will open at 11 a.m. against eighth-seeded Miami Trace.

Mechanicsburg, the top-ranked team in the state, was also a unanimous No. 1 seed in Division III.

The Indians will open at 11 a.m. against eighth seed Bethel Tate.

There will be a new champ in Division III. Delta, which had won the first four titles, was bounced in the opening weekend.

Southwest Ohio teams recorded a first in Division I.

LaSalle grabbed the third seed while Mason was voted the fourth seed, marking the first time two Southwest schools were voted in the top four in D-I.

Fairfield had held the highest seed by a D-I team from Southwest Ohio as the fourth seed in 2016.
