4 starters miss practice as Bengals head north to UC bubble

Linebacker Vontaze Burfict, running back Joe Mixon and cornerback Willim Jackson were among the Cincinnati Bengals who did not practice Wednesday as the team move operations indoors at the University of Cincinnati bubble.

Burfict (shoulder), Mixon (ankle) and Jackson (knee) suffered injuries in Sunday’s 26-17 victory against Detroit.

Mixon and Jackson were present at practice, but Burfict was not during the portion open to the media.

Also sitting out were kick/punt returner Alex Erickson (ankle) and left tackle Cedric Ogbuehi (shoulder), who was inactive Sunday and is not expected to play in the season finale at Baltimore.

Erickson suffered the ankle injury on his first punt return Sunday against Detroit but he returned to handle all of the remaining kickoff and punt returns.

Linebacker Jordan Evans was a surprise participant, albeit a limited one, after suffering a scary hit in the second half of the Detroit game on Sunday. Evans suffered a concussion when Burfict hit him in the head while the two were making a tackle.

TV replays showed Evans’ eyes rolling back in his head before he landed, at which point he suffered another blow when his head smacked off the turf.
