Tournament director Andre Silva said through a release the event is thrilled Williams will be part of the action.

“She is a fan favorite wherever she goes, especially here in Cincinnati as the reigning champion,” Silva said.

Williams has played in four straight Western and Southern Open finals, winning the last two, and has won 10 matches in a row in the tournament.
