Scarlet tops Gray in Ohio State spring football game

The Ohio State Buckeyes aired it out Saturday in their annual Scarlet and Gray Game.

Rules that seemed to limit tackling early on helped, but both offenses put up big numbers in the first public appearance for the Buckeyes since changing offensive coordinators in the offseason.

Senior starting quarterback J.T. Barrett threw for 71 yards with a touchdown and an interception before giving way to backups Joe Burrow and Dwayne Haskins.

Burrow threw for 262 yards and three touchdowns without an interception for the Scarlet.

Playing for each side, Haskins totaled 293 yards passing and three touchdowns without an interception.

True freshman Tate Martell came into the game late in the fourth quarter and ran for a touchdown on his first touch.

Kevin Wilson, a former Miami University assistant who was most recently head coach at Indiana, was hired in January to fix head coach Urban Meyer’s offense after the Buckeyes were shut out 31-0 in the Fiesta Bowl by Clemson.
