Robert Griffin III activated from IR, but future still uncertain

Robert Griffin III was activated from the Cleveland Browns’ injured reserve Wednesday, 10 weeks and three days after breaking a bone in his left shoulder.

The young veteran quarterback must be activated within 21 days or go back on IR.

Browns coach Hue Jackson told reporters in Cleveland Griffin has not been cleared for contact, so he is not available to face the Giants on Sunday.

He also did not rule out Griffin getting another shot at being the quarterback of the future for a franchise that has been without a franchise signal caller since returning to the league in 1999.

With rookie Cody Kessler sidelined by a concussion, the Browns plan to start Josh McCown at quarterback this week with rookie Kevin Hogan backing him up.
