H.S. Results for 4/19: Pennington paces Hamilton in win

The Hamilton baseball team pounded out 16 hits en route to a 10-4 win over host Sycamore on Wednesday.

Jake Pennington led Hamilton, going the distance on the mound and adding a 3-for-5 night at the plate. He drove in three runs to help his cause.

Zach Andrews was 3-for-4 with two RBI, Zach Bell went 2-for-3 with a double and a RBI, Payton Pennington 2-for-4 with a double and a RBI and Matt Myers 2-for-4 with a triple and a RBI.

The win evened Hamilton’s record at 8-8. Sycamore fell to 9-6.

Baseball

Tippecanoe 11, Xenia 1: Brad Calhoun homered for the third consecutive game, Trevor Staggs also went yard and Cade Rogers tallied three hits to lead Tipp.

Northmont 11, West Carrollton 5: Noah Martin went 2-for-4 with two RBI and Tyler Hunt and Taylan King both doubled but West Carrollton was unable to hold an early lead against Northmont.

Fairfield 8, Princeton 7: Brock Mathis smashed a three-run home run, Evan Trentman went 2-for-4 with two RBI and Tyler Morgan picked up his first win of the season for Fairfield.

Oakwood 8, Bellbrook 1: Oakwood scored five runs in the third inning to take control. Mark Lauterbach led the way, going 3-for-4 with a double, and Brian Erbe, Connor Morris and Alec Barhorst each tripled. Chad Furderer had a triple and scored the lone run for Bellbrook.

Madison 10, Northridge 2: Reid Davis drove in three runs, Ethan Limon went 2-for-3 with a triple and Mike Childers picked up the win on the mound for Madison. Seth Deaton had a 3-for-4 night with a double out of the leadoff spot for Northridge.

Waynesville 5, Milton Union 0: Hunter Doepel punched out 11 while scattering three hits over six innings to earn the win for Waynesville. Cameron Anderson doubled in a run and Tommy Issacs and Kyle Leis each had run-scoring singles.

Chaminade Julienne 7, Purcell Marian 0: Garrett Wissman tripled, drove in a run and struck out nine on the mound. Ryan Peltier added three hits including a triple and a RBI and Mark Barhorst had a double.

Fenwick 9, McNicholas 5: R.J. Clesceri blasted a grand slam and Will Maier picked up the win on the mound for Fenwick.

Eaton 9, Valley View 5: Brandon Miller notched the win, Alex Roe tossed four shutout innings in relief and Colton Gray had a double to lead Eaton.

Kenton Ridge 10, Greenon 4: Luke Holt knocked out his sixth and seventh home runs of the season, and Kaleb Meeks went 3-for-4 to lead Kenton Ridge. Chris Winter was 2-for-4 and Jake Richards doubled to pace Greenon.

Urbana 8, Ben Logan 6: Kaleb Bowdle struck out eight in a complete game and Seth Mangus was 2-for-3 with two runs scored to lead Urbana. Cole Waugh, Dalton Rockhold and Konner Caudill each plated a run for Ben Logan.

Northeastern 15, Madison Plains 1: Dylan Hand struck out eight in the win, Aaron Phillips went 3-for-4 with a double, triple and four RBI and Alex Lockwood drove in four and had a home run to lead Northeastern.

Softball

Northmont 1, Beavercreek 0: Sydney Weaver improved to 5-1 on the mound as Northmont shutout ‘Creek. Marissa Bardonaro helped out with a double.

Fairborn 9, Stebbins 2: Kenzie Shaver plated five runs and went 2-for-4 and Taylor Rice tallied three stolen bases for Fairborn.

Fairfield 7, Hamilton 2: Maddie Koger smashed two home runs and Rhiana Hubbard was 3-for-4 with a double for Fairfield. Destiny Anderson hit a double for Hamilton.

Kenton Ridge 10, Greenon 0: Ace Carly Turner improved to 12-1 with a two-hit shutout and Lexee Trainer and Peyton Fleming each hit two doubles for Kenton Ridge. Trainer also drove in three runs.

Spg. Shawnee 16, Triad 5: Lexi Moore was 2-for-3 and Madison Dolby 2-for-4 in a losing effort for Triad.

Carroll 20, Roger Bacon 13: Emma Hughes picked up her fifth win on the mound and Regayn Lakes and Camryn Joseph both went 4-for-4 with a triple for Carroll.

McNicholas 9, Fenwick 6: Sammy Bany plated three runs and Claudia Miller was 3-for-4 with two runs scored and a RBI for Fenwick in a losing effort.

Ross 17, Northwest 2: Ally Ivey recorded a grand slam while Whitley Arno and Haley Grau added homers for Ross.

Covington 13, Bethel 1: Justice Warner doubled twice and Sarah Hubbard was 3-for-3 to lead Covington. Morgan Reittinger went 2-for-3 and drove in Bethel’s lone run.

Tri-Village 22, Miami East 0: Taylor Bowles tossed a two-hit shutout and Breann Lipps was 4-for-4 with three runs scored and three RBI for Tri-Village.

Boys Volleyball

Beavercreek 3, Northmont 1: Parker Mikesch poured in 30 digs with 15 kills, Noah Buell added 36 assists with 11 digs and Ricky Le had 16 digs to lead ‘Creek.

Alter 3, Purcell Marian 0: Ethan Hart tallied 26 assists with 11 digs and seven aces, Jason Hascher added 19 kills with six aces and Evan Hartman had 10 digs to lead Alter.

Boys Tennis

Greenville 4, Lehman Catholic 1: Craig Manges and Branson Leigeber each had a singles win for Greenville. Griffin West of Lehman Catholic beat Noah Haupt (6-3 6-3) in the first singles match.

Sidney 5, Bellefontaine 0: Prem Dev and Logan Searcy both won their singles matches in straight sets for Sidney.

Troy 5, Springfield 0: Shane Essick, Elijah Sadler and Andrew Magoteaux all picked up singles wins for Troy.

Ross 5, Middletown 0: Justin Bolin and Spencer Wallace took their singles matches in straight sets to lead Ross.

Waynesville 4, Greeneview 1: Ben Muth, Dan Papenak and David Muth swept the singles matches for Waynesville.

Eaton 4, Preble Shawnee 1: Brad Kramer and Cody Frizzell tallied singles wins for Eaton. Pierce Elliott of Preble beat Breven Perry in first singles.

Tecumseh 4, Northeastern 1: Mitchell Foland, Michael Green and Drew Sarihan all had wins to help Tecumseh sweep the singles portion.

Spg. Shawnee 4, Greenon 1: Daniel Detrick and Michael Foley notched singles wins for Shawnee.
