H.S. Results for 2/11/17: Mechanicsburg earns OHC bowling crown

Mechanicsburg rolled up 3,403 points to win the Ohio Heritage Conference girls high school bowling tournament Saturday at Madison Lanes in London.

Fairbanks (2591) finished second, Southeastern (2554) third.

Conference player of the year Ally Hosier of Mechanicsburg recorded games of 205, 196 and 184 for a 585 total. Teammates Amanda Coulter (203), Miranda Keene (199) and Skyler Herron (186) also had big games. Coulter finished with a 524 series.

Boys Basketball

Beavercreek 53, Bellbrook 37: Peyton Young scored 14, Cedric Baldwin 13 for Beavercreek and Jordan Williams handed out four assists. Donnie Crouch’s 19 points paced Bellbrook.

Centerville (Ind.) 58, National Trail 49: Centerville sank back-to-back 3-point goals at the end of the third and start of the fourth quarter. Dalton Mason scored 17, Peyton Harrison 16 and Travis Hunt 11 for National Trail.

Dunbar 87, Springboro 73: Dunbar (18-3) outscored Springboro, 28-20, in the second quarter and continued to extend its lead in the second half. Devin Baker led Dunbar with 23, Chris Jackson added 21 and Storm Cook 16. Nick Pluta topped Springboro with 18 points.

Fort Jennings 57, New Bremen 52: Ian Finn and Luke Trentman scored 17 each for Fort Jennings. Avery Powers topped New Bremen with 16.

Fort Loramie 65, Franklin Monroe 42: Dillon Braun scored 17, one of 10 players who scored for Fort Loramie (16-4).

Fort Recovery 51, Triad 42: Hadley LeVan scored 18 for Triad.

Greenville 74, Tecumseh 52: Isaiah Gable scored 23, Aaron Rich 17 for Greenville (13-6), which has won seven of its last eight. Clay Mastin led Tecumseh with 23.

Jackson Center 57, Lima Temple Christian 48: Brady Wildermuth of Jackson Center led all scorers with 34 points. Brody Bowman’s 17 led Temple Christian.

Miami East 56, Lehman Catholic 41: Logan West led East with 32 points and 14 rebounds.

Miami Valley 58, Middletown Christian 35: Casey Gossett scored 19 for Miami Valley, which evened its Metro Buckeye Conference record at 5-5. Jarod Hamlin topped Middletown Christian with 11.

Minster 73, St. Mary’s Memorial 44: Minster trailed, 14-11, after one quarter but won behind Aaron Ernst’s 24 points and Jarod Schulze’s 10 points and 7 rebounds.

Mississinawa Valley 57, Houston 43: Ethan Bowman scored 19 for Mississinawa Valley.

Northmont 53, Elder 48: Eight players scored for Northmont (17-4), led by Christian Wilson with 16.

Piqua 45, Elida 38: Ben Schmiesing’s 17 points were high for Piqua.

Northridge 58, Milton-Union 50: Twon Hines scored 18, Seth Deaton 16 as Northridge swept its home-and-home weekend series with Milton-Union and extended its win streak to three games.

Oakwood 54, Stebbins 51: Oakwood (15-7) got 16 points from Brendan Talarczyk and Andy Neff and won its fifth in a row. Chris Davis scored 18 for Stebbins.

Taft 88, Ponitz 52: Floyd Scott had 17 points and 13 rebounds for Ponitz.

Thurgood Marshall 44, Winton Woods 30: Kadeim Jones scored a game-high 25 points for Thurgood Marshall.

Tri-Village 52, Coldwater 44: Gavin Richards scored 24, Trace Couch 16 as Tri-Village (13-6) topped Coldwater (9-10).

Troy 63, Celina 52: Ryan McClurg scored 15 and Troy outscored Celina, 42-21, in the middle two quarters.

Van Wert 65, St. Henry 55: Nate Place (18 points) led four Van Wert players in double figues. Ryan Bruening topped St. Henry with 15.

Alter 81, Roger Bacon 33: Braxtin Miller scored 23, Libby Bazelak 16 and Olivia Gillis 11 as Alter (20-2, 10-0) wrapped up the GCLC North title outright.

Badin 51, Seton 27: Badin (15-7) scored 24 points in the fourth quarter, a season high, to break open a close game. Emma Broermann scored a game-high 15 points for Badin.

Cin. Country Day 35, New Miami 23: Alyssa Robinette scored 16 points for New Miami, but her team was shut out in the third quarter.

Coldwater 45, Fort Recovery 40: Olivia Harlamert scored 15 as Coldwater (16-4, 7-2) pulled away from a halftime tie to hand Fort Recovery (15-2, 6-2) just its second loss. Kourtney Diller added 10 for Coldwater and Danielle Welsh had 8 points and 7 rebounds. Grace Thien led Fort Recovery in scoring with 12.

Covington 64, Tri-County North 29: Covington (17-5, 11-1) wrapped up second place in the Cross County Conference behind Samantha Whiteman’s 24 points. Aubrey Stupp led Tri-County North with 13.

Edgewood 37, Mt. Healthy 24: Cierra Lipps scored 10 points, Jessa Brown and Lauren Gerber 8 each, as Edgewood (19-3, 11-1) clinched its first-ever outright SWOC championship. Gabrielle Barnett scored a game-high 12 for Mt. Healthy.

Miami East 54, Northwestern 42: Miami East rallied in the second half to reach .500 (11-11). Bailey Miller scored 15, Haley Howard 14 for the Vikings. Abby Ziegler led Northwestern with 18.

Miamisburg 50, Northmont 46: Emily Kepple scored 17, She’Mya Leigh 14 for Miamisburg.

Mississinawa Valley 74, Twin Valley South 49: Olivia Murphy scored 18 for Mississinawa Valley. Kelsie Shafer had 16 points and 16 rebounds for Twin Valley South.

Newton 54, Graham 46: Tatum McBride scored 26 for Newton, including 8-for-8 free throw shooting in the fourth quarter. Kassadi Alexander’s 3-pointer gave Newton a 35-34 lead at the end of the third quarter.

Ottoville 57, Delphos St. John’s 33: Ottoville is 17-3 after its non-league victory. Madilynn Schulte led St. John’s with 17 points.

Southeastern 73, Madison Plains 30: Southeaster led, 21-6, after one quarter and never looked back to finish 16-6. Jessica Erwin scored 20, Maddy McKee 19 for Southeastern.

Springboro 47, Lebanon 39: Springboro (17-5, 9-2) pulled away in the second half as Jordan Diehl scored 15. Lebanon’s Alexis Straw led all scorers with 19.

Stebbins 96, West Carrollton 41: Three players topped 20 points for Stebbins: MacKenzie Lingg (29), Bryanna Bradsford (23) and Alyssa Bowman (22). Kayli Feltner led West Carrollton with 14.

Thurgood Marshall 55, Dunbar 45: Cierra Hooks scored 29 as Thurgood Marshall recovered from a 22-20 halftime deficit and improved to 18-4.

Trotwood-Madison 60, Springfield 36: Trotwood-Madison went to 17-5, 12-2 behind Taj Thompson’s 19 points. Caralyssa Byrd had 15 for Springfield.

Versailles 40, Jackson Center 28: Danielle Winner scored 16 and Kami McEldowney 9 for Versailles, which finished 19-3. Kamryn Eckhart and Cassie Meyer scored 8 each for Jackson Center.
